Milkshake 3 @ Melklokaal, Heerenveen
Milkshake 3
15.01- 19.02.2017
Opening on Sunday 15 January at 3pm
Herewith I would like to invite you for the group show ‘Milkshake 3’ at Melklokaal, Heerenveen, the Netherlands. The participating artists are Allie van Altena, Remco Reijenga, Erica Scheper, Peter Geerts, Joyce ter Weele, Olger, Aebele Trijsburg and me.
The serie of work of mine on show here ‘black and white paintings’ are inspired by the colour theory of the German romanticist Philipp Otto Runge, he invented the colour globe. The equator is the well-known colour wheel with the primary red, yellow and blue. On this globe the poles are black and white, the result is a richer representation of the hue’s.
In this exhibition the works will be shown not only as paintings, but more as protagonists in a theater. An actor who plays several roles and who can transform an object – the role into a subject, and I would like to see my works as acting subjects or as figurants.
The opening speech will be held by Anne Feddema, artist, poet and writer.

Can’t touch this
8.5 – 12.6. 2016
Opening on Sunday 8 May at 4pm
Herewith I would like to invite you for my solo show “Can’t touch this” at Melklokaal, Heerenveen, the Netherlands.
My recent works of the past three years will be shown. The paintings resemble airy colored pencil drawings on thin squared canvas which are a reminiscent of paper in an school notebook. The sense of touch will be turned into the sense of sight and vice versa. To touch with your eyes, retina. A research on color and perception.
The opening speech will be held by Sybrandt van Keulen editor of “Hoe filosofie en kunst werken” (Boom 2014).

Teach me a new language @ Tetem, Enschede
Teach me a new language
TETEM kunstruimte – Enschede (NL)
Drawing is a language that is universally readable and can be expressed in various ways: not only in the drawing style, but also in its experimental forms. Curated by the artist duo Kruisdijk/Kuilboer (Ben Kruisdijk & Conny Kuilboer), ‘Teach me a new language’ presents an inter visual universe of drawings in the languages of the following artists:
Steven Baelen, Paul Beumer, Quinta Bies, Marcel van Eeden, Paulien Follings, Bas Kosters, Henrik Kröner, Femmy Otten, Kars Persoon, Abner Preis, Sebastiaan Schlicher and Charlotte Schleiffert.
The diversity in drawing is just one of many starting-points of the exhibition. In addition to a selection of (inter)national artists that are active both within and outside the field of drawing, the exhibition has a strong link with the art academy AKI ArtEZ Enschede. How does the work of the artists who have been educated at the AKI relate to that of the other exhibitors? Is there a clear AKI visual language or is the diversity a recognizable motif in the work of all the participants?
This exhibition is part of Drawing Front: the nationwide manifestation for contemporary drawing, initiated by Kunstvereniging Diepenheim / Drawing Centre Diepenheim in collaboration with 20 art spaces all over the Netherlands. www.drawingfront.nl
